Star Valley Chamber of Commerce
Wyoming Health Care Seminar

On September 17th, 2009 we had the pleasure of hosting Brad Johnson from the Covenant Insurance Group who gave us a seminar on new Wyoming Health Insurance choices.

Click to hear his presentation (a 17MB WAV file), and the Question and Answer period (a 2.6MB WAV file).  Click here to view the "Point-Of-Sale" brochure Mr. Johnson handed out, with most of the information in it.

Click to see the presentation - in MS PowerPoint 2007 PPSX format, in PowerPoint 2002/XP format, or HTML format.  (Please be patient while slides are loading).  [Download PPT 2007 viewer here].

Some of the tidbits mentioned (hope I got these right):

  • Must be a member of a Chamber of Commerce that is a member of the Wyoming Chamber Welfare Benefit Association.
  • There are 14 plans to choose from.
  • Employer puts their contribution into an HSA (Health Savings Account) and the member (you) gets to decide how to spend it (if the employee is covered in a Qualified High Deductible Plan).
  • You can't be dropped once insured.
  • Either your entire company is covered or they are not.  It is not decided on a single member.
  • Pre-existing conditions are covered if your last insurance company was covering you (Federal HIPAA language).
  • Your rates or your company's rates cannot be raised because of one member, and they can only be raised the same across the whole state.
  • Fully H.I.P.A.A. compliant.
  • Wellness benefits for Children up to two years of age are covered 100%.
  • You may shop around and choose who will provide your treatment, even if they are out of state.
  • There are "Disease Managers" and "Tela-Docs" just a phone call away for assistance to minimize unnecessary doctor's office visits.
  • There are monthly deductibles in two of the benefit plans.
  • All plans cover medically necessary ambulance and "Life Flight" travel.
  • Life Insurance is included for the member/employee only, but available for dependents at an extra charge with the Voluntary Life program.
  • Dental and Vision are available through business partner companies.

To the left are some of the attendees after the seminar.  More info coming soon.  We hope to have up the presentation and the flyer/packet he handed out.  Below are some of the "slides" in the presentation.  Please excuse the quality, they are only temporary.
